What it’s like
A splash park with slides and a lazy river, active gaming at TAG X, and a play gym with a four-storey frame, all under one roof in Batley.
The splash park is the headline act here, with a Lazy River, Water Flume and Sidewinder when the slides are running, plus water buckets for the smaller ones who just want to get soaked without going down anything. Sessions are an hour, and they want you there ten minutes early so you don't lose any of it against the clock. There's also a Mini Splash & Play session for under-fives, which switches off the big flumes and keeps things to poolside toys, a sensible option if you've got a toddler who'd be flattened by the Sidewinder.
Away from the water, Stompers play gym has a Discovery Den, Adventure Zone and a spider web maze, and the Huddersfield branch does a four-storey Play Haven aimed at five and under. TAG X is the one for the older crowd, an active gaming setup with illuminated tags and wristbands, though you'll need a child of at least 8 and 1.2 metres tall to get on it. Footgolf's tucked in too, nine holes of it, if anyone fancies a break from screens and water.
Prices swing a fair bit depending on what you're doing and whether the slides are on. A family splash park ticket is £10 with slides closed or £20 with them open, so that's the number to watch if you're booking a slot expecting the full flume experience. TAG X runs £8 a head or £24 for a family. Booking ahead is recommended rather than compulsory, but once you've paid it's non-refundable and non-changeable, so double-check the date before you commit.
There's a café at Stompers and TAG X doing Costa coffee and cake, useful if one parent wants to sit out TAG X with a flat white while the other one gets tagged repeatedly by an eight-year-old. Parking's free at TAG X, but the Huddersfield Leisure Centre car park near the splash park charges. Lockers take £1 coins or tokens, so keep some change handy.
