What it’s like
Hands-on cooking classes for adults and families, from single sessions to a three-day course, in a proper working kitchen.
You come here to actually cook, not watch someone else do it. Classes run for adults and families, with festive sessions thrown in around the holidays, and everyone gets a spot at the cookery island rather than standing at the back. It's a working kitchen used for lots of different food purposes, so it isn't allergen-free, but they say menus are tested carefully and they'll do what they can if you flag a dietary requirement before booking.
Prices start at £120 for a single adult class and go up to £130, with a three-day course at £325 if you want to properly commit. That's a proper outlay for an afternoon of cooking. If you're bringing the kids to a family class, every participant, parents included, needs to be booked and paid for, which catches people out.
Parking is free right outside the courtyard, and the ground floor access with adjustable seating at the cookery island means it works for wheelchair users too. Office hours are 9am to 5pm if you need to ring and ask something before you book.
The cancellation policy is the bit to read twice. There are no refunds, and you need two weeks' notice just to transfer your credit to a future date. Cancel later than that, or get caught out by weather or illness, and you lose the class entirely.
