What it’s like
Private, one-to-one Thai cookery lessons where you master real dishes and even fruit carving, from £99.
This is not a shared class where you elbow ten strangers for space at a hob. Every lesson at Krua Thai is private tuition, just you (or your small group) and the teacher, which the school reckons gets better results than a crowded room ever could. You can walk in a complete beginner and come out having made a proper Pad Thai or a full curry paste from scratch, and they mean it when they say the recipes are theirs, developed for western kitchens rather than lifted from a cookbook.
There's a genuine range depending on how deep you want to go. A two hour Pad Thai masterclass starts at £159, a fuller 2.5 hour non-professional cookery session is £150, and if you fancy something showier there's a Bangkok Thai Street Food masterclass at £285. Thai fruit and vegetable carving is on offer too, from £295 for three hours plus, which is the one to save if you want to leave with a genuinely unusual skill rather than just a full stomach. There's also an online course if getting to Liberton Brae isn't practical.
Booking needs to happen 4 to 6 weeks ahead, though the school says urgent requests can sometimes be squeezed into alternative dates. Payment is due on the day itself, by cheque, bank transfer or PayPal, and cancellations within 10 days of your slot get hit with a 50% charge, so it's worth locking in a date you can actually keep. There's no walk-in access, this is appointment-only throughout, with the school open daily from 9am to 10pm to fit sessions around you.
Parking is easy, with ample space around the building and one spot right at the school, and it's a short walk from the first bus stop at the bottom of Liberton Brae if you're coming without a car.
