What it’s like

A library and leisure hub where the birthday party is football, roller skating or swimming, not just cake and balloons.

This one's more than shelves and a quiet corner. Alongside the library bit, Wythenshawe Forum runs children's parties built around actually doing something: football drills, a multi-sport mix of basketball, netball and indoor hockey, roller skating with proper marshals on hand, or swimming parties with floats and toys thrown in. If your child's the sort who can't sit through a party tea before wanting to move, this solves that problem for you.

There's a Creative Space too, with a podcasting studio, performance space and music production kit, which is a nice option if you've got a kid more interested in making noise into a microphone than kicking a ball. The Forum's hall also puts on bigger events, a Christmas pantomime and concerts among them, so it's worth keeping an eye on what's booked in over the year.

On the party admin: no outside food is allowed in in the party rooms, though you can bring your own cake, and catering is available from the on-site team if you'd rather not faff with food boxes yourself. Cancel with less than 14 days' written notice and you won't get a refund, which is a rule worth reading twice before you commit to a date. Event tickets bought separately are non-refundable and non-transferable too.

Parking is the easy part, with over 300 on-site spaces, pay and display, charging points, disabled bays and a multi-storey next door if it's rammed. Forum Flavours café does proper meals and afternoon tea rather than just crisps and a hot chocolate, and there's wifi if you need to get some work done while the kids are at swimming.

Plan your visit

How do we book a children's party?

Ring 0161 935 4020 or fill in the enquiry form on the Everyone Active site. There's no online instant booking, so it's a phone call or a form.

Can we bring our own food to the party?

No outside food is allowed, but you can bring your own birthday cake. If you want more than that, catering is available from the on-site team.

What happens if we need to cancel?

You'll need to give 14 days' written notice to the General Manager to get a refund. Leave it later than that and you won't get your money back.

Is there parking?

Over 300 spaces with pay and display, charging points and disabled bays, plus a multi-storey car park next door if the main one's full.

What sort of parties can we book?

Football, multi-sport, roller skating or swimming, each with its own theme and equipment. The roller skating comes with dedicated marshals watching over things.

Is there anywhere to eat?

Forum Flavours café does freshly made meals, snacks and afternoon tea, so you're not stuck with vending machine sandwiches.
