What it’s like

A lagoon set up for sailing, windsurfing, paddleboarding and open water swimming, plus archery and bushcraft on dry land.

This is a proper water sports base rather than a soft-play sort of day out. Kids from about eight can have a go at sailing in various dinghies, and there's windsurfing from age 10 and wingsurfing from 12, all in a sheltered lagoon rather than open sea, which takes some of the fear out of it for a first go. Kayaking, canoeing and paddleboarding are all in the same lagoon, and if the water's not appealing there's archery and bushcraft to fill in the land-based half of the day.

A one hour taster is the shortest session you can book, and it's capped at 12 people, so it works better as a small group outing than a solo drop-in. If you fancy stretching it, they'll happily combine water and land activities, though they're honest that something like bushcraft really wants a two hour slot to be worth it. Saturday sailing, windsurfing and wingsurfing sessions run £20 for under-16s and £25 for adults, which feels fair for the kit and instruction involved.

Open water swimming is its own thing entirely, and worth knowing the details on before you turn up. It's restricted to 9am to 10am on Saturdays, last entry is an hour before closing, and 1:1 coaching runs at £30. It's card only for most things on site, but drinks, the tuckshop and the open water swimming itself are cash only, so don't leave your wallet as your only plan.

They're open Monday to Saturday from 9am to 4pm and Sunday 10am to 4pm, and the site says rain rarely stops the day, sessions just get switched around, sailing might become paddling if the wind drops. There's a café on site doing vegetarian options, and they take school visits and group bookings too.
