What it’s like
Lock yourselves in a room in Hull and solve your way out within 60 minutes, best tackled as a team of four or more.
You get an hour to crack the puzzles and codes hidden round the room before your time runs out. It suits teams rather than solo attempts, two people minimum and six maximum, and the site is upfront that under-tens might find the puzzles a stretch, so this is really one for older kids and adults working it out together.
The price shifts with your group size: £27 a head for two people, dropping to £25 for three, £23 for four, £22 for five and £20 each if you fill all six spots. Bringing a bigger group genuinely pays off here, though a pair on a whim will pay the most per person. Allow an hour and a half all told, since that hour in the room is bookended by a briefing beforehand and a chat about how you got on afterwards.
Anyone under 16 needs an adult with them, which is worth knowing if you were picturing a teenage birthday group let loose on their own. A couple of the rooms have low head-height or tighter spaces, so it is not the venue for anyone who needs to stand tall and stretch out while they think.
There are two sites in Hull. Dock Street is ground floor throughout, and two of its rooms, The Cabin and Escape the Seven Seas, are fully accessible. The Parliament Street site is stairs only and will not work for wheelchair users.
