What it’s like

A cinema that runs baby-friendly, dementia-friendly and open-captioned screenings alongside the usual film schedule.

This one's worth knowing about if the standard cinema trip has never quite worked for your family. There are baby-friendly screenings built for under-ones, sound turned down and lights kept up so a crying baby doesn't mean a walk out. Dementia-friendly showings drop the adverts and trailers too, which says something about who they're actually thinking about when they build the schedule.

Beyond the film side, they bring in Event Cinema: opera, theatre, dance, musicals, gigs, all on the big screen. It's a nice option if you've got a kid more interested in a live musical broadcast than the latest animated release, or if you fancy something different from the usual popcorn-and-trailers routine.

Access has clearly had proper thought put in. Every screen has wheelchair access with a lift, and if you're a disabled visitor with a CEA card you can add a free carer ticket when you book. Open captioned screenings with transcriptions are there for deaf and hard of hearing audiences too. There's a café on site and baby change facilities, so a screening doesn't have to mean packing the whole nappy bag strategy around it.

It's billed as sensory-friendly, which combined with the dimmed baby screenings and captioned showings makes it a genuinely thoughtful setup rather than a box-ticking one.
