What it’s like

A café and community shop with a garden terrace, homemade lunches and cake, and free parking right outside.

This is a stop for a proper sit-down lunch or a cake and coffee break rather than an attraction with things to climb on, so pitch it as the calm bit of the day rather than the main event. The lunch menu runs 12 to 2pm, and outside those hours you're looking at homemade cakes and barista coffee, which is no bad thing if you're breaking up a longer day out nearby.

The garden and terrace are the part worth knowing about if you've got a toddler who needs somewhere to wander that isn't a car park. Dogs are welcome out there too, on leads, though inside the café and shop it's assistance dogs only. Free parking sits right outside, which takes the faff out of finding a space with a buggy and bags to unload.

There's no booking system as such, but the café will hold up to two tables if you call ahead on the day, handy if you're turning up at a busy lunchtime with a pram to squeeze in. The shop and café keep slightly different hours, with the shop opening earlier and running later most days, so if you're combining a browse with lunch it's worth timing your visit around the café's shorter window.

It's a wheelchair accessible site, which also tends to mean easier going for buggies, though there's nothing in what they list about high chairs or children's portions specifically. Treat it as somewhere to refuel and let a small one stretch their legs in the garden rather than a destination in its own right.

Plan your visit

Do we need to book?

Not really. They'll hold up to two tables if you call ahead the same day, which is worth doing at a busy lunchtime.

What food is there?

A licensed café with homemade cakes, snacks and barista coffee all day, plus a lunch menu from 12 to 2pm.

Is there parking?

Free parking right outside the venue, so no need to factor in a walk with a buggy.

Can we bring the dog?

On the terrace and in the garden, yes, on a lead. Inside the café and shop it's assistance dogs only.

Is it accessible with a pushchair or wheelchair?

The site is wheelchair accessible, which should make it straightforward with a buggy too.
