What it’s like
A free gallery behind Penarth station, small enough for a quick look on the way to the train.
You can pop in behind Penarth train station and see whatever's on the walls without paying a penny. It's open Thursday to Sunday, 10am to 4:30pm, so it's not a place you can wander into on a whim midweek, but it fits neatly either side of a train.
There's no age range given and nothing on the site about activities for kids, so don't expect trails or hands-on bits. This reads as a proper small gallery rather than a kids' attraction, and that's fine if you've got a child who'll happily look at pictures for twenty minutes rather than one who needs something to climb on.
The upstairs gallery isn't wheelchair accessible, which is worth knowing if you're pushing a buggy too, since you'll likely be stuck downstairs. There's free parking, and being right behind the station means you can see it from the platform.
