What it’s like
Head out to the fields to pick your own strawberries, raspberries, blackberries and pumpkins, straight from the ground.
This is a proper hands-in-the-soil day out. You wander the rows and fill a punnet with strawberries, then move on to raspberries and blackberries when they're in, or fresh fruit and veg depending on the time of year. Come October and into half term, the pumpkin patch takes over, and picking your own from the patch beats grabbing one off a shelf in a supermarket car park.
PYO runs 10am to 4pm when things are in season, so it's not an all-day, all-year thing like the farm shop, which is open 9am to 6pm every day. Worth timing your visit to whatever's actually ready to pick rather than turning up hoping for strawberries in November.
There's no age range given for this one, but pulling a pumpkin off its stem or finding the ripest berry on the bush is the sort of thing that works for a toddler just as well as a ten-year-old, everyone just wants to be the one who spots the best one. Parking on site is ample.
