A Caribbean restaurant and live music bar in Glasgow where kids are welcome for food, but only until 8pm.
This one's for an early tea rather than a night out. The Rum Shack does a proper Caribbean menu with vegan, vegetarian and kids options, and the kitchen's open every day until 9:30pm for last orders. Get there for the early evening and you can eat while there's still a bit of live music or a DJ set going on, which is more atmosphere than most kids' teas come with.
The catch is the curfew. Under 18s are only allowed in until 8pm, so this is a dinner-and-out job, not a full evening. A lot of the gig listings are over 18s only anyway, so check what's actually on before you plan the visit around the music rather than just the food.
If you want a table, they ask that reservations come with a food order, which is fair enough for a restaurant but worth knowing if you were hoping to just grab drinks and listen. Best treated as an early, tasty stop rather than the main event of the night.
