What it’s like
One-to-one and group lessons in piano, drums, vocals and violin for kids from age six upwards.
Piano and keyboard lessons here run either one-to-one or in groups, so you can pick whichever suits a six-year-old who wants a go before committing to solo lessons. Drums and violin are taught too, alongside group vocal classes if your child fancies singing rather than an instrument. There's also the Yamaha music programme, including Popular Music Theory, for kids who want the theory side alongside the playing.
Beyond scales and technique, the lessons cover writing music, improvising and performing. That's the bit worth knowing if your child gets bored easily, there's more going on than sitting at a keyboard doing exercises.
Lessons run Monday to Friday from 3:30pm to 9:00pm, which fits neatly after the school run, and on Saturdays from 9:00am to 6:00pm if evenings don't work. It's closed on Sundays. With six as the minimum age, this isn't somewhere for a toddler tagging along, it's aimed at kids old enough to sit through a proper lesson and want to learn an instrument.
