Free contemporary art gallery on the Welbeck estate with free parking, a kids' creative activity space and monthly Discover Art! sessions for children.

The Harley Gallery is a contemporary art gallery on the Welbeck estate, part of the Harley Foundation, with exhibitions that change quarterly across two gallery spaces and a display on the 5th Duke of Portland alongside a gallery shop selling work from contemporary craftspeople. It's free to get in and free to park, and if you've got kids in tow there's a creative space with an activity linked to the current exhibition, with the activities changing regularly so it's worth a repeat visit. The gallery is breastfeeding friendly and baby changing facilities are available next door in the Harley Museum. The building is wheelchair accessible over two levels with a lift to the upper floor, accessible toilets downstairs, and 12 blue badge parking spaces in the main car park. A monthly Discover Art! creative kids' session runs on the third Saturday of each month, and exhibitions currently on or coming up include Coal Mining Stories and Serena Korda: Triple Goddess. It's on the A60 five miles south of Worksop (look for the brown Welbeck signs), and if arriving by train the nearest useful stations are Retford (LNER, then taxi) or Creswell on the Robin Hood Line, from where it's a scenic but longish 2-mile walk through Creswell Crags gorge. Combine it with the Harley Museum next door, the Pottery Studio and the estate walks for a fuller day out.
