What it’s like
Relaxed weekend film screenings for kids in a proper independent cinema, with a café bar to fill the rest of the morning.
Saturday mornings are the reason to come with kids: Family Time relaxed screenings, plus Baby Kino sessions for the ones still in the sling. These aren't the big multiplex crowd, they're quieter and more forgiving if your toddler needs to wander or make noise, which is exactly the point of a relaxed screening.
Outside those slots this is very much a proper cinema with proper cinema rules. Under-12s can't be in after 7pm unless with a parent, and 15 and 18 certificates need actual proof of age, no arguing your way past the person on the door. Babes in arms are allowed into U, PG and 12A films but the site's honest that they may be asked to leave if a baby kicks off, so don't take it personally if you get moved along.
The café bar kitchen does lunch and daily deals, running Monday to Saturday 9:30am till 8:30pm and Sunday 9:30am to 6pm, so there's a decent window either side of a screening to feed everyone. The café bar itself stays open later, Monday to Friday from 9am until late and Sunday 10am to 8pm, useful if you fancy a coffee before the film starts.
There's no car park on site, which stings a bit in the city centre, though Q-Park on Charles Street gives 50% off with the code SHWRM50 and there are Blue Badge bays on Paternoster Row. It's a five minute walk from Sheffield station and the tram stop right by it, so if you're coming in from out of town you can skip the car altogether.
