What it’s like

Cut your own flowers from a working field, with a pumpkin patch in autumn and a café instead of a picnic spot.

This is a pick-your-own field rather than a garden centre, so the main job is walking the rows with a pair of scissors and working out which blooms are actually going to survive the drive home. It runs weekends only, and turning up on spec is fine as there's no booking system to wrestle with.

Beyond the flowers there's a bit of a browse to be had among gifts and seasonal stalls, and once autumn comes round the field turns over to a pumpkin patch, which is the bit that'll stick in a child's memory more than the flowers probably will. The ground is a proper field, uneven in patches and changeable with the weather, so it's not the place for your best shoes, though the site reckons most pushchairs and wheelchairs manage the grass paths without too much bother.

Food comes from The Honey Tap on site, doing pizzas, coffee and baked treats with vegan and gluten-free options, and that's deliberate: picnics and your own food aren't allowed, so budget for a coffee and a slice rather than a packed lunch. There's parking in the field itself, plus disabled parking near the entrance and the usual toilets and baby change.

Worth knowing before you plan a Harrogate trip alongside this one: that site's shut for the year and not due back until 2026, so York is the one open now.

Plan your visit

Do we need to book?

No, just turn up. It's open Saturdays and Sundays, 10am to 5pm.

Can we bring a picnic?

Own food and drink aren't allowed on site. The Honey Tap café does pizzas, hot drinks and bakes instead, including gluten-free and vegan options.

Is it OK with a pushchair or wheelchair?

The field paths are grass and can get uneven, especially after rain, but the site says most pushchairs and wheelchairs manage the main visitor areas fine.

Is there parking?

Parking's in the field, and there's disabled parking sign-posted near the entrance.

Are there toilets and baby changing?

To both, on site.

What is there to do besides picking flowers?

There's a browse of seasonal gifts and stalls, and in autumn the field becomes a pumpkin patch.

Is the Harrogate site open too?

Not this year. It's closed and set to reopen new in 2026, so York is your option for now.
