What it’s like

A community theatre in Sheffield putting on pantomime and family shows, with tickets booked by phone or online.

This is a proper community theatre setup, the sort where you book by ringing a number and might end up leaving a message, rather than clicking through a slick website. Tickets run £16 to £20 for adults, and if you're 65 or over there's a concession rate of £9.50, though that's only on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and tied to an annual season ticket rather than a one-off booking.

Speaking of season tickets, if you know you'll be back for all three main productions in a year it's worth thinking about. It gets you a 5% saving on each show and, more usefully, lets you book the same seat every time, so you're not stuck at the back with a five-year-old who can't see over the row in front.

The building itself is straightforward: wheelchair access into the ground floor auditorium, a hearing loop, and toilets on site. No faffing about with steps or side entrances by the sound of it.

The catch is getting there. There's no car park and no vehicular access to Well Lane. Worth knowing that some of that parking gets restricted during school hours, which could catch you out if you're planning a daytime visit.

  • Season ticket holders get their pick of seats for all three main shows plus a 5% discount.
  • No on-site parking, so factor in a short walk from High Street or the side roads.
  • Concession pricing is restricted to Tuesdays and Wednesdays and tied to the season ticket.
