What it’s like
Indoor go karting on a multi-level track, with a Mini Racers option for kids from age 4 and laser combat for the over-sixes.
The main event here is karting on an indoor multi-level track, and it's built for a proper range of drivers. Full-size karts need a child to be 8 or over, at least 1.2 metres tall and with a 25 inch inside leg, which rules out plenty of younger siblings. That's where Mini Racers comes in, a separate experience for 4 to 7 year olds between 1.0m and 1.4m, so you're not stuck explaining to a disappointed five-year-old why they can't have a go.
You'll get a race suit and helmet thrown in, but if hair's an issue you'll need a balaclava, and they'll happily sell you a reusable one for £3.99 on arrival. Spectating is free, and there are dedicated viewing areas if you'd rather watch an 8-year-old take the racing line than climb in yourself. Once they're old enough, laser combat is on offer too for kids 6 and up, handy if you've got a mixed-age group and only some of them are cleared for karts.
Booking ahead is essential rather than optional, and it's non-refundable, so this isn't a turn-up-on-a-whim visit if the weather's grim. Food is on site, with a bar and kitchen menu, but outside food isn't allowed in, and it's card only, so leave the cash at home. Parking's free on site, which takes the sting out slightly, though the upper level and bar area aren't wheelchair accessible, only the lower level and spectator viewing.
Birthday parties are catered for if you fancy handing over the organising to someone else for an afternoon. It's an indoor venue throughout.
