What it’s like

Foam-dart battles under glow lights and smoke, booked in one or two hour slots.

This is a Nerf arena, so the whole point is running about shooting your mates with foam darts while the lights go low and the smoke machine kicks in. It's the glow lights and smoke that lift it above a village hall dart fight, and that's the bit a six-year-old will be talking about on the way home.

Sessions are booked in one or two hour blocks, £11 or £15 a head. That's not pocket change for a family of four, and the two-hour option nearly doubles the time for less than half as much again, so it's worth deciding upfront whether an hour of running and diving is actually enough for your crew. Booking is required, there's no just turning up and hoping for a free lane.

It's an indoor venue, so rain outside makes no difference to the battle inside. The minimum age is 6, which fits with how physical this gets, darts flying and kids diving behind cover.

Birthday parties get their own party rooms, with the same foam-dart battles, smoke machines, lasers and battle music laid on. If you're after a party that isn't a soft play run-around, this is a straightforward swap.
