St. George's Theatre
WHERE
Great Yarmouth
What it’s like
A theatre venue for live performances, with doors opening half an hour before curtain up and a bar for snacks and ice-creams.
This is a proper theatre setup rather than a soft play or an attraction you wander round. Doors open 30 minutes before a performance starts, so that's your window for finding your seats and grabbing something from the bar before the lights go down. There's a bar inside selling drinks, snacks and ice-creams, which covers you if you haven't eaten beforehand.
Booking online through the What's On page is the route they point you towards, though there are also in-person bookings at the cafe on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday between 12 and 2pm if you'd rather sort tickets face to face. Concessions are available for children under 16, adults 60 and over, students in full-time education and registered disabled people, but you'll need to show proof of eligibility when you book or collect the tickets, so don't leave that bit to chance.
Access is properly thought through. The south entrance has ramp access straight through to wheelchair accessible toilets and the auditorium, and when you're booking online you can pick seats right next to the wheelchair symbol on the seating plan. There's also a hearing loop in place. If you need dropping off, the accessible entrance doubles as a collection point, which is handy given the nearest parking is at King Street Car Park rather than right outside.
