What it’s like
Circus workshops, street arts festivals and craft Saturdays at a Great Yarmouth venue built for wheelchair access.
This is a proper circus outfit, not just a hall with a trapeze in it. Drillaz Circus School runs classes at £25, there's an outdoor circus and street arts festival with tickets from £3, and a club night called Sculpted for the over-18s at £8.50. Wyrd Sister shows start from £4. It's a lot of different things under one roof, so it's worth knowing which event you're actually booking before you turn up.
Family Saturdays are the one to know about if you've got kids: free, two-hour sessions with craft workshops, a meal included and circus workshops for the children to have a go at. That's a genuinely good deal for a couple of hours out, and the meal being thrown in is the kind of detail that makes it easy to say yes to.
Access has clearly been thought about properly. There's step-free access throughout, a sensory room, quiet sessions and an accessible toilet, plus complimentary carer tickets at events. Bikes get a secure lock-up zone with help for punctures, which is a nice touch if you're cycling in as a family.
The catch is food: you can't bring your own in, and only water is allowed at classes, so factor that in if you've got a fussy eater or a toddler who needs snacks on demand. There's no parking at the venue itself, and most street parking nearby is permit-only from 8am to 6pm.
