Spring Valley Campsite and Holiday Cottages
WHERE
Hull
What it’s like
An adults-only campsite and holiday let site near Hull, built for quiet stays rather than family camping trips.
This one's for the grown-ups. It's an adults only site, and by that they mean strictly so: anyone 16 and under isn't admitted, except in exceptional circumstances at management's discretion for a holiday let or a specific pitch away from the main campsite, and even then it's under strict supervision. So if you're picturing a family camping weekend, this isn't it. What you get instead is a proper quiet break, camping pitches or holiday cottages, a wildlife pond on site to sit by, and noise rules that mean things go properly silent from 10pm to 9am.
Arrival for camping pitches runs from noon to 10pm, and holiday lets from 2pm, both with departure before midday (10am for the lets). Visitors are welcome between 2pm and 5pm, though there's a cap of five guests per pitch including yourself, and holiday lets are limited to two visitors. There's no on-site bar or restaurant, but takeaway menus are kept at reception and food gets delivered straight to your pitch from local businesses, or you've got the Constable Arms a mile off and the Stag Inn a couple of miles further.
Group bookings for young people and stag parties are turned away outright, which tells you the sort of atmosphere they're after. The one exception is the pond-side field, which can be hired whole for private events like weddings, with its own health and safety rules and a slightly later curfew for the noise. Parking is one car per pitch or let with extra space in the main car park, and if you haven't brought a car there's a bus into Hull from right outside the gates, about twenty minutes each way.
