What it’s like
A proper swimming pool and diving pool in Worthing, with the fitness suite next door if the grown-ups fancy a workout too.
Swimming is the main event here: a big main pool and a separate diving pool, so it suits kids who just want to splash about as well as ones ready to jump off something higher. There's a gym and fitness side to the place too, which makes it an easy split if one adult wants to swim with the kids while another gets a session in.
It's open long hours most days, from half six in the morning through to eight or half eight at night on weekdays, and it opens early at weekends as well. Saturday's the exception, shutting at five, so that's the day to plan around if you're used to an evening swim.
Access has clearly been thought through. There are double-width automatic doors, a lift across all three floors, wide corridors and a Changing Places room with a hydraulic hoist giving direct poolside access, which matters if a wheelchair user in your group needs more than a standard accessible loo. The café has height-adjustable tables too, and assistance dogs are welcome throughout, including in the café itself.
There's no getting round the fact that a pool this well equipped for accessibility and diving is going to feel like more of a leisure centre than a splash pad, so go in expecting proper swimming rather than a paddling pool with a café attached.
