What it’s like

A multi-storey frame with slides and a ball pit for climbers up to 12, plus a gated area for the crawling ones.

The big frame is the main event here, three levels of it by the sound of things, with slides that'll get your eight-year-old's legs moving and a ball pit at the bottom. Under-fours get their own gated area away from the bigger kids, so a toddler can potter about without getting flattened by someone else's seven-year-old mid-slide. There's a sensory room too, for the kids who need a quieter minute away from the noise.

Sessions run 1 hour 45 minutes, four times a day from 9:30am, and you can turn up and leave whenever suits within that window. Prices step up with age, from £3.95 under six months to £8.95 for the 4 to 12s, and adults get in for £1.50, which is fair enough for the babysitting-adjacent job you're about to do. Socks are compulsory for every child and adult on the soft play, and if you've forgotten yours you're buying a pair on the door.

The café does hot and cold food, cakes and drinks, with vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options if you ask, but you can't bring your own food in, so factor that into the packed lunch you were about to make. Parking's free in the shared car park out front, with a second free one round the back if that's full, though they're upfront that it can't be guaranteed on a busy day.

Birthday parties run at £15.95 a head for 10 to 20 kids, with a catered buffet and two party rooms for the 1 hour 45 session. If you want the place to yourselves, there's a £350 VIP private hire for two hours with the café staffed just for you, which is a fair bit more but does mean nobody else's kids in your photos.

Do we need to book?

Booking isn't required but they suggest it, since sessions can fill up and you don't want to turn up to a full house.

How long is a session?

1 hour 45 minutes, with sessions starting at 9:30am, 11:30am, 1:30pm and 3:30pm. You can arrive or leave any time within that window.

What age is it suitable for?

The main frame covers 0 to 12 year olds, and there's a separate gated area for under-4s.

Is there parking?

A free shared car park out front, plus another free one round the corner if the first fills up. They do say it can't be guaranteed on a busy day.

Can we bring our own food?

Outside food isn't allowed. The Space Station café covers hot and cold meals, cakes, snacks and drinks, with vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options.

Do we need socks?

Every child and adult on the soft play needs socks, mainly for safety on the slides. You can buy a pair on site if you've left yours at home.

What are the opening hours?

Monday to Wednesday it's 9:30am to 3:15pm, Thursday to Sunday 9:30am to 5:15pm, and bank holidays follow the shorter Monday to Wednesday hours.

Do you do birthday parties?

£15.95 per child for a party of 10 to 20 kids, with a catered buffet, two party rooms and the standard 1 hour 45 session length.

Is there a private hire option?

The VIP Private Hire is £350 for exclusive use of the venue for two hours, with the café staffed just for your group.

Is the sensory room accessible for wheelchairs?

The sensory room and party rooms aren't wheelchair accessible, which is worth knowing if that affects your visit.
