What it’s like
Open-air group fitness classes on the beach at Sea Lanes, from TRX to calisthenics, no gym floor wandering allowed.
This is not a place you turn up to and lift weights on your own. Everything here runs as a booked group class or a personal training session, out in the open air at Sea Lanes. Expect TRX strength work, calisthenics, weights and mobility sessions, plus shorter high-intensity express classes if you're short on time.
You don't need to be fit before you start, which takes the pressure off a first visit. The trial gets you three classes for £22, a decent way to test whether the sea breeze and sand underfoot suit you before committing to £49 a week or the £85 unlimited monthly pass. Bring your own kit, since there's nothing on offer about equipment being provided.
The catch is the cancellation policy. You've got to pull out at least 12 hours before a class or you'll lose the credit, or get stung for a £10 fee. Light rain won't stop a session, but they'll adjust or cancel outright if the weather turns properly nasty, so don't assume a grey forecast is a free pass to skip.
Dogs are welcome as long as they behave themselves, which is a nice touch if you're the sort who trains with a dog tied to the railing nearby. Bear in mind this is an adult fitness setup rather than anything aimed at children, so it suits you if you're after your own session by the sea rather than a family outing.

Plan your visit
Do I need to book, or can I just show up?
You've got to book, either into a group class or with a personal trainer. There's no dropping in for a solo gym session.
How much does it cost?
The trial is £22 for your first three classes. After that it's £49 for once a week, £69 for twice, or £85 for unlimited monthly training.
What if I'm not very fit?
No specific fitness level is needed to join in.
What happens if it rains?
Most classes carry on through light rain. They'll only adjust or cancel if the weather gets extreme.
Can I bring my dog?
Well-behaved dogs are welcome. If a dog starts causing trouble, though, they'll be asked to leave.
