What it’s like

Free football sessions, 3G pitches and an indoor hall for sports, arts and crafts, plus weekend birthday parties.

The 3G pitches are the obvious pull here, especially with the free football sessions running for children. There's an indoor multi purpose hall too, so if it's chucking it down outside you're not stuck, and the community events list arts and crafts and even hula hoop displays, which is a nice change from the usual kickabout.

Booking is required, which is a bit of a faff if you're used to just turning up to a park, but it also means you're not turning up to find the pitch is full of someone else's five-a-side match. The hours are generous, opening at 9am every day and running until 10pm on weekdays, so there's room to fit a session round school or work.

Birthday parties happen on Saturdays and Sundays only, booked by email, which is worth sorting well ahead if you've got a date in mind. There's not a huge amount to go on for younger children specifically, so this reads as one that suits kids old enough to actually play organised football or join in a structured activity rather than toddlers wanting to potter about.
