What it’s like

Paint your own ceramic, have a go on the pottery wheel, or press the kids' hands and feet into clay to keep.

The basic offer here is paint-your-own pottery: pick a pre-made ceramic and get on with decorating it. But there's more going on than that. There's proper wheel work if your kids fancy getting messy and making something from scratch, and they'll also do hand and foot prints on pottery, which is a nicer keepsake than another mug with wonky spots. There's even a paw print option if you want the dog immortalised alongside the kids, which is a genuinely different idea for a family activity.

Hours shift a fair bit depending on the time of year, so it pays to know which calendar you're working from. In the summer holidays it's open every day, but during term time it only opens Thursday and Friday afternoons plus the weekend, and it's shut Monday to Wednesday. If you're planning a visit around the school run, that's worth building in.

Birthday parties are the other big use of the space, and they've priced it out cleanly: £100 gets you 8 children, rising in fairly even steps up to £163 for 15, and you can add a food package that roughly doubles the cost at each tier. It's BYOB and you bring your own food or get it delivered. Dogs are welcome too, so a paw print session could genuinely be a family outing rather than just one for the kids.
