What it’s like

Roller skating sessions and skate discos for over-fives, with a Saturday and Sunday skate school if they've never strapped on a pair of wheels.

This is a proper roller rink, not a bouncy castle with wheels bolted on. Kids get skating sessions, skate discos with music and lights, and a dedicated skate school on weekends for anyone starting from scratch.

There's a catch if your child has never skated before: they can't just rock up to a skate disco. The site's rule is that new skaters have to book onto one skate school session first, which runs 12 to 1pm on Saturdays and Sundays. It's a sensible rule once you picture a rink full of first-timers wobbling into confident regulars, but it does mean a bit of forward planning rather than turning up on a whim.

Birthday parties are on offer from age 6, with a party host running games so you're not the one refereeing pass-the-parcel on skates. The on-site café does snacks and fast food, useful given skating works up an appetite fast.

Age five is the floor here, and that feels about right. Younger kids and true beginners will get more out of it if you book the skate school slot rather than dropping straight into a disco session, where the pace and the crowd are geared towards kids who already know what they're doing.

Plan your visit

What age can kids start skating here?

Five and up, according to the site. Younger or brand-new skaters are steered towards the skate school rather than the discos.

Do we need to book the skate school?

They recommend booking online in advance. Sessions run 12 to 1pm on Saturdays and Sundays.

Can a complete beginner just go to a skate disco?

Not straight away. New skaters need to book one skate school session first before they're let loose at a disco.

Is there food on site?

Yes, there's a café doing snacks and fast food, so you don't need to bring your own supplies.

Do they do birthday parties?

From age 6, with a party host running games as part of the package.
