What it’s like
Seven lakes for fishing and cabins to stay over in, open early to late most of the year.
Seven lakes here are set up for fishing, so if you've got a family keen on rods and patience rather than swings and slides, this is a different kind of day out (or night out, since you can actually stay over in the cabins on site). It's a proper change of pace from the usual playground trip, more about sitting quietly by the water than tearing about.
Hours stretch out nicely in summer, 7am to 7pm, so an early start or a long lazy afternoon both work. Winter draws in a bit, 7am to 4pm, which is worth factoring in if you're planning a fishing session that runs into the light disappearing. The only day it shuts completely is Christmas Day.
The cabins mean this doesn't have to be a single afternoon. A weekend based here, fishing one of the seven lakes by day and sleeping on site rather than driving home, changes the whole feel of the visit. Whether that suits a toddler or is really one for older kids who can sit still by a lake for a while is something you'll have to judge for your own crew, since the site itself doesn't pin down an age range.
