What it’s like

A free guided tour showing where your rubbish actually goes, and how to sort it properly.

You get walked through the sorting process itself, watching how recycling gets separated and where it ends up. There are myth-busting activities thrown in too, the sort of thing that clears up whether your yoghurt pot really can go in the bin (spoiler, it's more complicated than most people think). Kids come away actually knowing how to recycle right, rather than just guessing and hoping.

It's free, which is rare for anywhere with a proper tour attached, and sessions run up to 90 minutes. That's a decent chunk of time for younger ones, so pitch it at children old enough to sit through a tour and join in rather than toddlers who'll want to wander off halfway through.

The catch is the booking. You need a group of at least 6 people and up to 30, and it's only open to groups from Merseyside and Halton, so this isn't a spontaneous solo family visit, it's more of a school trip, scout group or a few families clubbing together. There are limited evening sessions between 4pm and 5pm if the daytime slots don't fit, and everything gets booked in advance through their calendar.

Parking's sorted at least. Free on-site parking covers cars, minibuses and coaches, and the building's wheelchair accessible with toilets on site.
