What it’s like

Strap into a motion-seat VR racing rig with wind fans and over 200 cars, for ages 10 and up.

This is proper racing, not the arcade cabinet version. You climb into a motion seat, pull on a headset, and pick from over 200 cars before racing against AI opponents or whoever you've brought with you. The seats move and the fans blow when you're up to speed, so it's a fair bit more physical than it sounds from the outside.

It's a 10-and-up venue, and there's a 1.4m height rule alongside that, so this isn't one for younger siblings tagging along. That's worth knowing before you promise a family trip, because you'll need to leave the little ones with someone else. For a group of older kids or teenagers though, it's a solid way to spend an afternoon, and racing against your own mates rather than strangers online is the obvious bit to save for last.

Pricing is done in laps rather than time, starting at £5 for a Dash 10 and climbing to £20 for a Dash 50, with GP packages on top at £25 midweek or £30 at weekends. There's also a £35 unlimited pass, but only Monday to Thursday, so if you're planning a proper session it's worth going on a weekday rather than a Saturday. Booking is required, so this isn't a turn-up-and-queue kind of place.

Opening hours run from midday to 9pm most days, with a slightly earlier 10am start on Sundays. Birthday parties and corporate events are both on offer here, though the same age and height rules apply to party bookings too.

How old do you need to be to race?

You need to be at least 10 years old and 1.4m tall. That applies to birthday parties too, not just regular sessions.

How much does it cost?

Laps are sold in packages from £5 for a Dash 10 up to £20 for a Dash 50. GP packages are £25 midweek or £30 at weekends, and there's a £35 unlimited pass Monday to Thursday.

Do we need to book ahead?

Booking is required, so it's not one to just turn up to.

What are the opening hours?

Midday to 9pm Monday to Saturday, and 10am to 9pm on Sundays.

Can you do a birthday party there?

Yes, birthday parties and corporate team events are both available, with the usual age and height rules applying.

What actually happens in the simulators?

You get a motion seat and wind fans while racing in VR, choosing from over 200 cars and racing either the computer or the people you've come with.
