What it’s like
Paint your own pottery, from mugs to handprint plates, with over 180 pieces to pick from and no studio fee on top.
You pick a piece off the shelf, from a mug to a figurine, and there's over 180 to choose from, then settle in for a bit of painting. There's no extra studio fee here, the price on the shelf is what you pay, starting around £10. For babies and little ones who can't quite manage a paintbrush yet, there's the handprint option too, pressing a tiny hand into clay for a keepsake plate, which feels like the sort of thing you'll still have on a shelf in ten years.
You get an hour and 45 minutes at your table, which is plenty for most designs, though if you're doing something fiddly and run out of time you can come back another day for £4 and finish it off. They'll hold your pottery for a month, so no panic if life gets in the way. One thing to know: you don't get to take it home the same day. It needs glazing and firing, which takes about a week, ten days if it's near Christmas, so the reveal is a second trip or a wait for the post.
There's no age limit at all, the paints are water based and non-toxic, and they've had everyone from toddler birthdays to 80th birthday parties through the door. That makes it an easy one for a family visit where the ages don't quite match, nobody's too young or too old to join in. Food-wise it's hot and cold drinks and light snacks on site, but they'd rather you didn't bring your own unless you're at a booked party.
If it's a birthday you're after, the party package runs £13 to £15 a child for 1.5 hours, and that includes drinks, snacks, a sweetie bag and a handprint plate for each child, which is a nice touch to take home even before the pottery's back from the kiln. There's a £40 deposit to hold the date, and the upstairs room takes up to 26 people, so it's not just tight family gatherings.

Pottery pieces run from about £10 up to around £50 depending on size and style. That's all you pay, there's no separate studio or painting fee.
Do we need to book?
Booking online is a good shout, especially weekends and school holidays when it gets busy. Walk-ups are welcome too if you're not fussed about a specific time.
Is it OK for a toddler or baby?
There's no age limit and the paints are water-based and non-toxic. Babies can do the clay handprint option instead of painting, which makes a nice keepsake plate.

You get your table for 1 hour 45 minutes. If you need longer you can come back another day to finish for a £4 return fee, and they'll keep your piece safe for a month.
When do we get the finished pottery?
It needs glazing and firing, which usually takes about 7 days, sometimes up to 10 around Christmas. You don't take it home on the day.
What about food and drink?
They do hot and cold drinks and light snacks on site. Bringing your own food isn't allowed unless you've booked a party.
