What it’s like

A sit-in bakery café for coffee and pastries, plus made-to-order celebration cakes for parties.

This is a bakery first and a café second, open Monday to Saturday, 8am to 4pm. You go for the cakes and pastries, sit in with a coffee, and if there's a birthday coming up you order the celebration cake from there too.

The cake ordering is worth knowing about ahead of time. They want three days' notice minimum and you can book as far as six months out, with a personal message added to the cake if you want one. There's a full range of flavours plus vegan and wheat free options, though it's worth knowing wheat free isn't the same as gluten free here. They're upfront that nothing's guaranteed free from gluten contamination, so if coeliac is a concern for someone in the party, this probably isn't the cake stop for that particular guest.

It's a proper sit-in spot rather than a grab-and-go counter, and well behaved dogs are welcome on a lead in the café and the shops. No booking needed for a coffee and cake, you just turn up.
