What it’s like
Circus and street performance shows on a proper stage, best for kids who can sit still and watch rather than join in.
This is a watching show, not a hands-on one: circus and street performance acts on stage, with an audience of kids old enough to sit through a full performance. The site is firm that under-fives generally aren't allowed in, though some family shows make an exception and let under-twos in free, so check which kind of show you've booked before you promise a five-year-old's little sister a night out.
They want you there half an hour early to get settled, and the theatre opens an hour before curtain up, which is worth building into your evening if you're coming from work or fighting for a parking space first. Bars on each level do drinks and snacks in the interval, ice cream included, at around £4 a go. You can bring your own snacks, but hot food and packed lunches are out, which feels a bit strict for a theatre but keeps the auditorium from smelling like a chip shop.
Getting there by tube is easy, with Holborn and Temple both a five-minute walk, which beats trying to find that single disabled parking bay out front. It's not bookable in advance and there's only the one, so if you need it, get there early and hope. Access inside is properly sorted though, with wheelchair seating in both the Dress Circle and Stalls, lifts, and level access to the auditorium and bars.
Under-16s need an adult with them throughout, so this isn't a drop-and-shop kind of trip. Budget an evening rather than a quick pop-in: doors an hour before, thirty minutes suggested to settle in, then the show itself plus an interval for snacks.

Generally under-fives aren't allowed in. Some family shows make an exception and let under-twos in free, so it depends which show you've booked.
Do we need to book?
There's a booking link on their site, and given it's a theatre show rather than a drop-in venue, booking ahead is the sensible move.
What time should we arrive?
The theatre opens an hour before the show starts, and they suggest getting there thirty minutes early to find your seat and settle in.
Is there food there?
Bars on each level do drinks, snacks and ice cream, around £4 each. You can bring your own snacks, but no hot food or packed lunches.
Is it accessible for wheelchairs?
Yes, there's wheelchair seating in the Dress Circle and Stalls, lifts, and level access to the auditorium and bars.
Is there parking?
One disabled parking bay right out front, Blue Badge needed, but it can't be booked ahead. Holborn and Temple tube stations are both a five-minute walk if you'd rather skip parking altogether.
