What it’s like

A free outdoor park with a skate bowl and BMX track, plus a toddler playground and woodland trail to wander once the wheels stop.

There's a proper skate park and BMX track for anyone who's actually on wheels, and then a good chunk of stuff for everyone else. The toddler playground sits apart from the ramps, so you're not watching a teenager on a BMX and a two-year-old on a slide at the same time. There's a teen zone too, if you've got one who's aged out of the playground but isn't quite ready for the bowl.

Beyond the wheeled bit, it opens out into a sand and water play area, a multi use games area for a kickabout, and playfit exercise equipment with a trim trail if the grown-ups fancy joining in. It's all free to get into, which makes it an easy one to add to the list without thinking too hard about cost.

The woodland sculpture trail and nature trails are the bit worth saving for after the skate park, when everyone's legs need a different kind of tired. There's a forest school outdoor classroom too, more of a nod to what goes on there in term time than something you'll use on a random Saturday, but it adds to the feel of the place as somewhere with more going on than just ramps and tarmac.

It's all outdoors, so a dry day makes the whole visit better, especially the sand and water area. There's a café on site if you need a sit down and a coffee while someone practises their ollies.
