What it’s like
A booking-only play and sensory venue in Newcastle-under-Lyme for disabled children and young people, from soft play to bushcraft.
This one is specifically for children and young people with disabilities, not a general soft play centre, and everything runs on separate age and interest based sessions rather than open turn-up-and-play hours. Inside there's a soft play area with a ball pool, slides, a rope bridge and tunnels, plus a sensory room with a wind blower and ball tube for anyone who needs a calmer corner. Outside there's play equipment, a woodland walk, trikes and bikes to ride around the grounds, and bushcraft and den building for the ones who want to get properly muddy.
The week is split into named sessions: Family Sessions on Saturday afternoons, a separate Family Session for the under-fives, Junior Club and Senior Club on weeknights, plus a Friday Club and an Adult Social Group. That spread across ages 0 to 17 (and into adulthood) means a teenager and a toddler aren't fighting over the same bit of kit at the same time, which feels like the right call given who this is for. Craft activities, table tennis and pool, animal handling and disco sessions all get a mention too, so there's a proper mix beyond the play equipment.
Every session needs booking in advance, no exceptions, so this isn't a spontaneous rainy-afternoon dash. Worth knowing as well that the place gets no government funding and runs on donations, which explains why it feels more like a project people care about keeping alive than a slick commercial play centre. The building is wheelchair accessible with an accessible toilet and Changing Places facilities, and there's indoor and outdoor seating along with on-site food.
