What it’s like
Free museum with hands on history sessions and make and take craft activities alongside art exhibitions.
This is a small, free museum where kids get to actually touch and do things rather than just look. The hands on history sessions are the bit worth planning around, and there are free make and take activities where children can craft something to take home, which is a nice touch when so many places charge extra for that.
Alongside the activities there's a proper mix of permanent and temporary art exhibitions to wander round, so it works as a rainy afternoon plan without feeling like you're dragging anyone round a stuffy gallery. It's all indoors, which is handy given Nuneaton weather doesn't always play ball.
It only opens Thursday to Saturday, 10:30am to 4:30pm, so this isn't a spontaneous Sunday outing. There's a café on site for a drink and a snack, and the building has an accessible toilet and is wheelchair accessible, so buggies and wheelchairs shouldn't be an issue getting round.
Given there's no entry fee and no booking link, it feels like the sort of place you can just turn up to rather than plan weeks in advance. That said, with only three opening days a week, it's worth building your visit around one of those rather than assuming it's open when you fancy it.
