Norwich
What it’s like
Ballet, tap, modern, acro and street classes working towards ISTD exams, plus toddler dance sessions.
Classes cover the usual ballet, tap and modern routes through to ISTD exams, alongside contemporary and street dance taught as free work rather than graded syllabus. If your child's more into flips than pirouettes, there's acro and tumbling too, done on foam roll out mats and an air track rather than a bare hall floor, which matters more than it sounds once someone's attempting a handspring.
There's a toddler dance class listed for the younger end, so this isn't only for kids who can already point their toes. For older or more experienced dancers, the school asks that you get in touch before signing up for anything grade 4 and above, or if you're transferring from another school, so they can slot you into the right level rather than guessing from an online form.
Performance opportunities come up too, including stage shows, which is the bit most kids end up talking about long after the term's classes are forgotten. If you're not sure your child will take to it, they offer free trials, though not for every class, and private sessions are available on request if you want dedicated time working towards an exam or just want the confidence built up faster.
