What it’s like
Two heights of rope course over the water sports lake, plus mini golf and a free play park to fill the rest of the day.
The rope course is the reason you'd drive out here. Sky Trail runs at 12ft and 24ft with rope walkways, cargo nets and narrow beams to wobble across, and smaller kids get Sky Tykes as their own lower version rather than being stuck watching from the ground. A session is booked as an hour, though that includes a 15-minute briefing before anyone gets clipped in.
It's £13 a head for Sky Trail. Closed-toed shoes only, so trainers or wellies, not sandals or crocs. Under the ropes there's a 9-hole mini golf course, and the Adventure Play Park is open to children of any age if you want a free run-around before or after the main event.
This is part of the wider National Water Sports Centre, so if you time it right there's also the white water course and the lake to look at, though the lake currently has signs of blue-green algae. There's a café on site for the inevitable post-ropes chips.
Ages start from 1 for the site generally, with Sky Tykes clearly the better fit for the younger end and Sky Trail for kids who fancy the height and the cargo nets. It's not a soft play sort of visit, more an outdoor, get-your-shoes-muddy kind of morning.
