What it’s like
Graded trails from pump track to black run, with day passes from £12 and proper supervision rules for younger riders.
The trails are graded like a ski resort: pump track, green, blue, red and black, so a wobbly six-year-old and a confident teenager can both find something that suits them without getting in each other's way. A day pass gets unlimited riding across the whole park, which is decent value if you're making a full day of it, less so if you only fancy an hour before lunch.
Six is the minimum age to actually buy a trail pass. Riders aged 2 to 5 can still come along, but only at the designated times the park sets, so it's not a turn-up-and-ride deal for the very small ones. Anyone 15 or under needs a parent or guardian on site the whole time for the pump track, green and blue trails, and if they want a go on red or black they need to be riding alongside a competent adult who's also paid to ride, not just watching from the side.
Birthday parties run two ways. The Freeride package is trail access plus food, hot dog, a sweet treat, a savoury snack and drinks, at £19.99 a child with the birthday child riding free, though you'll need at least eight kids to book it. The Instructor-led version adds two instructors and proper party games on top, but it's Sundays 10am to noon only, so that one needs planning ahead rather than a last-minute booking.
Opening is weather permitting, and trails can shut if the wind's up, which is fair enough for a bike park built on graded descents but worth bearing in mind if you're travelling any distance. Day passes need booking ahead rather than turning up on spec.
