What it’s like

A supersized, escape-room take on Monopoly where teams race round a giant board to buy up property and bank the most cash.

You're not sat round a table for this one. Teams get a human token guide and move round a life-sized board, tackling hands-on tasks and puzzle-style challenges to buy up properties and bank as much money as you can. There are four different boards with their own themes, and you don't need to relearn any rules if you come back for another, so it's one to repeat with a different group.

It's built for age 9 and up, and that's not a soft recommendation, it's because the games get genuinely tricky and physical. You're on your feet the whole time, the lights and music are properly cranked up, and there's a lot of group participation, so this isn't one for a shy nine-year-old who wants to hang back. Pushchairs and babes in arms aren't allowed in, which rules out bringing a younger sibling along for the ride.

At £54 a head it's a proper night or day out rather than a cheap hour of fun, and the tickets are non-refundable, so double check everyone can actually make it before you book. Turn up at least 15 minutes early, because latecomers don't get in at all, and that quarter of an hour also lets you sort the cloakroom, which charges £1.50 per item for bags and coats since you can't take them onto the boards. There's a bar and restaurant on site if you want food before or after, and a drinks trolley does the rounds on the board itself halfway through your game.

Parking isn't right on the doorstep, the nearest option is the Holiday Inn car park on Carburton Street, about a ten-minute walk. All four boards are wheelchair accessible with lifts, though some of the challenges aren't doable for wheelchair users.

Plan your visit

How much does it cost?

£54 a person for general admission. Tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable, so it's a proper commitment once you've booked.

Do we need to book ahead?

It's e-tickets only and booking's required in advance, no turning up on spec.

What age is it suitable for?

Recommended for 9 and up because of how complex the games get. Under-9s aren't allowed in the game rooms, and pushchairs or babes in arms can't come in either.

What happens if we're running late?

You'll be turned away. Get there at least 15 minutes before your game time or you won't be admitted.

Is there food and drink?

The Top Hat Bar & Restaurant is on site, and a drinks trolley visits your board halfway through the game with both alcoholic and non-alcoholic options.

Can we bring bags in?

Not onto the boards. Bags and coats go in the manned cloakroom for £1.50 an item, though small bags fastened to you are allowed at your own risk.

Is there parking nearby?

The closest option is the Holiday Inn car park on Carburton Street, about a ten-minute walk from the venue.

Is it wheelchair accessible?

All four boards have lift access, but some individual challenges aren't possible for wheelchair users. Best to contact the venue directly to talk through what's involved.
