What it’s like

Learn dressmaking, tailoring or bridal sewing at a single-storey studio in Leyland, from one-day courses to private tuition.

This is a proper sewing school rather than a craft-fair taster session. The course list runs from dressmaking, tailoring and pattern fitting through to bridal wear, lingerie, designer bag making, soft furnishings and computer embroidery, so whether you want to alter your own coat or build a wedding dress from scratch, there's a class aimed at it. They say the courses cover everything from beginner to advanced, which makes it a reasonable place to start even if you have never threaded a machine.

Day classes are where most people will land. Sewing for Beginners is £95 for the day and Make It Your Own is £85, both structured enough that you leave with a finished piece rather than a pile of samples. If you want the tutor's full attention, one-to-one tuition is £270 for a day, or you can book private tuition by the hour on Fridays at £135, which is a decent option if a full day feels like too much commitment or too much money in one go.

There's a half term Sewing Class for mum and me at £40, aimed squarely at doing a project alongside your child rather than dropping them off. It's the one date in the facts that's explicitly for two of you, so keep an eye out for when it comes round again.

Practically, it's straightforward: free parking on site and a single-storey studio with no stairs, so it's easy enough if a pushchair or a wheelchair is part of your day. There's an open day on Sunday 4th October you can drop into any time between 11am and 3pm, no booking needed, which is a low-pressure way to see the space before you commit to paying for a full course.
