What it’s like

Rare breed animals to feed and pet, plus indoor and outdoor play areas to fill a whole day near Norwich.

This is a proper hands-on farm day. Sheep, goats, pigs, cattle and waterfowl are all there to meet, and the animal paddocks, pond and incubation rooms give you plenty to wander round before anyone gets restless. It's outdoor, so a wet day means wellies rather than a wasted trip.

When the animals have had enough attention, there's an indoor adventure play area with toys and an outdoor one with slides and a trampoline, which is handy if you've got a two-year-old and a ten-year-old wanting different things at the same time. The age range they mention is 2 to 12, and that spread makes sense once you see how much of the day is play rather than just looking at animals.

Entry is £11 for adults, £10 for children aged 3 and over, and £8 for two-year-olds, so a family of four is looking at somewhere around £38 to £40 depending on ages. There's no need to book, you just turn up and pay on the day, which takes the faff out of planning around nap times. If you fancy going often, the annual membership gets you unlimited visits plus 10% off in the gift shop and café.

Birthday parties are on offer too, from £13.50 a child with an 8 child minimum, and the package is generous: a two hour room slot, farm admission, feed for the animals, rabbit and guinea pig handling, and a free adult per paying child. The café is open from 10am daily and you do not need farm admission just to sit down for a coffee.
