What it’s like
A 4,000 sq ft multi-level laser-tag arena in Derby with 20-minute games, from age 6.
The game itself is HELiOS Pro laser-tag, played across a multi-level arena that's big enough to actually hide in. Each game runs 20 minutes, and you can book one, two or three of them back to back, with a 20-minute breather built in between. Six is the minimum age they set, though they say younger kids might manage it with a parent alongside if staff are happy on the day.
One game is £6.95, two is £12.95, three is £15.95, so the more you book the better the per-game price gets. There's also a family 2-game pass from £36 for three people (minimum one adult, one child), with extra people added at £12 a head up to eight total. Allow half an hour for a single game once you count arrival, and closer to two hours if you're doing all three.
Birthday parties are clearly where they put the effort in. The basic Sentinel party is 2 games with no food for £15.95 a head (minimum 8 children), while the Capture parties add a hot buffet and soft drinks for £18.95 or £20.95 depending on games played. There's also a Lasertag and Dodgeball combo and a UV Glow party with glow sticks and face paint, both £22.95. Most of these need a minimum of 10 children, and you can't bring your own food in except a birthday cake for parties.
Book ahead, especially at weekends, since arenas aren't guaranteed exclusive unless you pay for that. Parking on site is limited, so at busy times you're looking at the nearby car parks and a short walk. Opening hours shift around the calendar: term-time weekdays it's 4pm to 10pm, school holidays 11am to 10pm, and weekends 10am to 9pm.
