What it’s like

Glow-in-the-dark bowling in Mansfield, priced by the game or by the lane for a whole session.

The main event here is the glow bowling, lanes lit up disco style rather than the plain strip-lighting version you get elsewhere. It's a straightforward way to fill an hour or two with kids who want to hurl a ball down a lane and argue about the scoreboard.

You've got two ways to pay. Game pricing is per person per game, so a junior's first game is £9.95 and an adult's £10.95, with extra games cheaper at £5.50 and £6.50. Or you book a lane by the hour, which works out better if there's a few of you: an hour for a family lane is £49.95, an hour of adults £57.95, rising to £84.95 and £89.95 for two hours. Family timed bookings need at least one junior per lane, so it's not a loophole for a group of grown ups trying to save money.

Birthday parties run as SuperKids (4 to 11) or SuperTeens (11 to 16), both getting an hour of glow bowling, a party host, unlimited squash and a free return voucher per bowler, plus a present for the birthday child. It's £14 a head Monday to Thursday or £17 at weekends, minimum five guests, and you'll need to book at least a week out with a £20 deposit.

One thing to know before you turn up: no heels, sandals, bare feet or socks-only, it has to be closed-toe shoes. They do a kids' menu and food on site, and they say they can do a fair bit gluten free if you flag it with staff. Open from 10am every day, running to 10pm Sunday to Thursday and 11pm on Friday and Saturday.

How much does it cost?

A junior's first game is £9.95, an adult's £10.95, with extra games at £5.50 and £6.50. If you're a group, a timed family lane is £49.95 an hour or £84.95 for two hours.

Do we need to book?

Booking isn't required for a game of bowling, though it makes sense on busy evenings. Birthday parties do need booking, at least a week ahead.

What's the difference between game pricing and timed pricing?

Game pricing is per person per game. Timed pricing books you a whole lane for a set stretch, an hour, 90 minutes or two hours, and family timed lanes need at least one junior on them.
