What it’s like

Pick your own fruit and veg in summer, then hunt for a pumpkin come October, with a farm shop café for afterwards.

The main job here is picking, not petting. From early May through to the end of October you can go out and pick your own crops, and from early October that turns into pumpkin picking, which is the bit that'll stick in a kid's memory more than anything else on offer. It's a straightforward, hands-in-the-dirt sort of visit rather than a day of rides or shows.

There's a café on site for afterwards, useful when small legs have had enough of the fields, and parking's free so you're not stinging from the moment you arrive. It's wheelchair accessible too, which is worth knowing if you've got a buggy or a wheelchair in tow, since pick-your-own ground can be a mixed bag underfoot elsewhere.

Opening hours are generous on weekdays, 9am to 6pm Monday to Saturday, dropping to 10am until 4pm on Sundays and bank holidays. If you fancy leaving the car at home, the number 85 bus runs from Rugby and Coventry to Stretton-under-Fosse, National Express on weekdays and Stagecoach on Sundays. One small faff if you've got a dog with you: they're not allowed in the shop, so you'll want to take turns or leave them in the car for that bit.
