What it’s like

A craft village with a children's farm, bouncy castles, fishing pools and country walks to fill a slow morning.

The farm's the obvious pull here: livestock and animals to look round, open from 10am, and it doesn't need much more explanation than that if you've got small kids in tow. Bouncy castles are on site too, which buys you a bit of time if the animals only hold their attention for so long, and there are fishing pools and country walks if anyone wants to stretch their legs afterwards.

It's a mixed site rather than a single attraction, so pace it out. Term time and school holidays both run 10am to 4pm, which keeps things simple, and the walks give you somewhere to go once you've done the farm and the bouncy castles without needing to get back in the car.

Lake View Tearooms is open Tuesday to Sunday, 10am to 4pm, for whenever you need to sit down with a tea and let the kids finish their sandwiches at their own pace. There's a gift shop too if a small souvenir is part of the deal on the way out. The village sits about 15 minutes from Coventry and Nuneaton, and 20 to 25 minutes from Birmingham, Solihull and Tamworth, so it's a reasonable trip without being a big day-out commitment.

Worth knowing the tearooms are shut on Mondays, so if you're going for food as much as the farm, pick another day.
