What it’s like

Craft birthday parties in Caversham where kids get a 90-minute themed art session, with add-on party tea and catering options.

This is a party studio built around craft, not soft play or bouncy castles. Kids get a 90-minute art activity with theming, either an Amanda Jay Make & Take session or a MADEbyTamalia Themed party, and the mess stays at the studio rather than in your kitchen. Add half an hour if you want a party tea in there too.

It's not cheap for a party: £18.50 to £20 a head, and you'll need at least 12 to 14 children to book one, so this suits a proper class invite rather than a small gathering. You'll need to move fast too, since dates get snapped up and they won't hold one without a 50% deposit, ideally 6 to 8 weeks out. Start times are 10am or 2pm at weekends and school holidays, with after-school slots around 4 to 4.30pm if the evening's free.

Only four adults can stay in the main party room, which is a bit of a faff if half the class turns up with a parent in tow, though there's a VIP space for grown-ups with under-5s where you can get a cappuccino and still be on hand. They don't do decorations or party bags, but the studio's pretty enough that you won't need much. Cake's fine to bring, and if you've only booked the craft bit rather than the tea, you can still bring one for show.

Parking on site is tight since it's a small industrial estate with spaces tied to each unit, but there's free road parking on Marsack Street and the surrounding streets, a couple of minutes' walk. It's about a 10 minute walk from Caversham centre.

Children's craft parties from £18.50-£20 per head (minimum 12-14 children), 90-minute activities, theming available, catering options
  • Paint and craft materials can stain clothes, so old clothes are a sensible shout
  • They don't supply decorations or party bags, though you're welcome to bring your own
  • Cutting the cake gets tricky here, so cupcakes in party bags are the suggested workaround
  • After-school parties around 4 to 4.30pm are popular if there's no evening booking

Plan your visit

How much does a party cost?

£18.50 a head for the Amanda Jay Make & Take party, £20 for the MADEbyTamalia Themed party. You'll need a minimum of 12 to 14 children depending on which one you pick.

How long does a party last?

The craft activity runs about 90 minutes. Tack on another 30 minutes if you want a party tea as well.

Do we need to book ahead?

Yes, and they book up fast. Nothing's held without a 50% deposit, so aim for 6 to 8 weeks before the date you want.

Can parents stay for the party?

Only 4 adults can stay in the main party room, hosts included. If your child's 5 or under, there's a VIP space where an adult can wait with a cup of tea.

Is there catering?

You can bring your own party tea or let them cater it. Options range from kraft party boxes to a vintage or premium cream tea, served on their vintage crockery for the Tamalia parties.

What about parking?

On-site spaces are limited and tied to each unit, though weekends tend to be quieter. There's free road parking on Marsack Street and nearby streets, a short walk away.
