What it’s like
An arts space running after-school activities, family and teen workshops, and life drawing sessions.
This is a working arts space rather than a gallery you wander round. After-school activities run through term time, and there are family and teen workshops dotted across the year alongside life drawing sessions for anyone wanting to draw from a model rather than a bowl of fruit.
Two sessions have set times worth knowing: Mother Tongue meets 10am to 11:30am, and New Wave Creatives is a monthly evening meet-up from 5:30pm to 7:30pm. Everything here runs on booking rather than walk-ins, which makes sense for a space this size but means you do need to sort it in advance rather than deciding on the day.
The building is wheelchair accessible, which is useful for anyone bringing a pushchair too. Beyond that, it is a place built around actually making things rather than looking at them, and the mix of after-school, family, teen and life drawing sessions suggests a space that flexes for whoever is in the room that day.
