What it’s like

A West End stage for Room on the Broom and other family shows, with the ticket price hinging on which production is on.

This is a proper theatre trip rather than a soft play afternoon: you sit, you watch, and the big one to know about is Room on the Broom brought to the stage, the witch and her cat and all the animals from the book turning up live in front of your kids. It's a sit-down production, so it suits children who can manage staying in a seat for the length of a show rather than toddlers who need to be up and moving.

The theatre also runs other musicals and shows, and those come with their own tone and pricing, so what you book on a Tuesday might be a very different watch to what's on a fortnight later. Adult tickets sit around £20, with some productions pushing up to £25, and you check in online 72 hours before the performance to confirm you're coming and get your tickets sent over. If your plans change, there's a proper exchange process too, but you need to get the form in at least 48 hours before curtain up.

On accessibility, the Lyric has wheelchair spaces in the Dress Circle boxes at street level and an adapted unisex toilet, plus staff on hand at the bars if you need help. Assistance dogs are welcome, and there's even a dog sitting service for up to two dogs if you book it in advance, which is a nice touch if a family member can't come in with you. For anything specific to your child's needs, the access team takes calls and emails directly rather than leaving you to guess.

  • Assistance dogs are welcome, and there's a dog sitting service for up to two dogs if you book ahead.
  • Contact the access team directly if your child has specific needs, rather than hoping it's covered on the day.
