What it’s like
A half hour cruise round Liverpool's dock system, past the yachts and working boats moored in the Marina.
This is a half hour boat trip round the dock system, with commentary running the whole way so you actually know what you're looking at rather than just admiring some water. You get up close to the yachts and sea going vessels moored in Liverpool Marina, which is the bit worth saving your camera for. It's a short session, so don't expect a full afternoon on the water, but that also makes it an easy slot to fit into a day already busy with other things.
Tickets are £10 for an adult, £8 if you're over 60 or a student, and £4 for a child, which feels fair for half an hour on the water. You can book online or just pay on board, and boats go out daily from 12 noon onwards. Card only on site, so leave the cash at home. There's indoor seating and food available, useful if the weather turns while you're waiting to board.
Worth knowing before you head down: the boat isn't wheelchair accessible, and trips run subject to weather conditions, so a very blustery day could see things paused or altered. It's about a 10 minute walk from the city centre, an easy stroll if you're already in town.
If you're planning something bigger, private charters are available for birthdays, anniversaries or corporate events, with a Champagne reception or buffet menu on offer. That's a proper step up from the standard half hour cruise, and probably one to book well ahead rather than turn up on the day.
